Bill Neve was sworn into office as Commissioner, Precinct 1, on January 1, 2001. He is a U.S. Air Force Veteran, and he has worked in a corporate setting for Schlumberger Oil Well Services, and he has owned his own air conditioning business. He also served Burnet County for 12 years as Director of Maintenance.

He is the past director of the Burnet County Fair & Rodeo Association.

He is a member of the Burnet Kiwanis Club, having served as a past Director and Secretary.

He served six years on the Burnet Consolidated School District Board, and was a member of the Finance and Construction Committees.
Since taking office as a County Commissioner, Bill has served as Chair of the County's Construction Committee, as a member of the County Human Resources Committee, the Hotel Motel Tax Committee and on the Capital Area Planning Council Criminal Justice Committee.

He is a voting member of the Region K Water Planning Group that was tasked by Senate Bill 1 to develop a plan for use of surface and ground water in the Colorado River basin. This group is made up of individuals for the 14 counties along the Colorado River and covers the Colorado River and major aquifers of the Trinity, Edwards, Carrizo-Wilcox, and Gulf Coast. The plan developed by this group will be combined with the other 16 river basin groups to become the State Water Plan.

He is a member of the Burnet County Water Council.

He and his wife Nancy serve as board members for Burnet County Mental Retardation, Inc.
Bill and Nancy moved to Burnet in 1989, and they have reared two children, Bill, Jr., and Ashley. They are members of the First Methodist Church of Burnet.
