The County Treasurer is the chief custodian of all county funds and preserves the system of checks and balances within the financial administration of county finance. Specific duties include original bank reconciliation on twenty-three checking accounts. The Treasurer deposits county revenue and invests reserve funds.
In addition, the Treasurer's Office is responsible for:
- Processing the entire county payroll of approximately 275 employees
- Distributing juror payments
- Distributing accounts payable checks
- Preparation of Annual 1099's
- County Insurance Administrator
- Retirement System Administrator
- Inmate Medical Billing and Receipts
- Administrate Personnel Policies & Procedures
- State Reporting of fees collected and payroll taxes withheld
- Website Postings of County Utility Bills, Treasurer's Reports & Check Registers
The Treasurer serves as Investment Officer, planning, purchasing and redeeming all investments made for the county.
Other duties include original calculation and maintenance of employee benefit leave, payroll deductions and garnishments, preparation of payroll quarterly reports and annual W-2s. The county treasurer also maintains the unclaimed funds valued at $100 or less. The county treasurer serves as Human Resources (HR) Director, Chair of HR Committee, SLP Committee, and Insurance Committee.
