Marriage Licenses

Step One:

Complete Applicant portion of Marriage License Application ONLINE
(If online access is unavailable to you, our office has computers for public use)

Step Two:

BOTH applicants are to appear together at the Burnet County Clerk’s office, 220 South Pierce Street, Burnet, TX
*The 72 hour waiting period DOES NOT begin until you sign the application in our office

Step Three:

Inform the Clerk’s office that you completed the marriage application online and present your valid photo id or certified copy of your birth certificate for identification

Step Four:

Make Payment:
$87.00 – Marriage License
$52.00 – Informal Marriage License

Step Five:

Complete Oath and Sign before the clerk

In the State of Texas, a marriage license is valid for ninety (90) days from issuance with a seventy-two (72) hour waiting period until the license becomes valid.
The marriage license may be used anywhere in the State of Texas.
