SMALL TAXING UNIT NOTICE: Burnet County Emergency Services District #8 will hold a meeting Monday August 26, 2024, at 6:45 PM at the Northeast Burnet County Fire Rescue (NBCFR) Station #2, 2285 US 183, Bertram, TX to consider adopting a proposed tax rate for year 2025. The proposed tax rate is $0.10 per $100.00 of value. The proposed tax rate would increase total taxes in Burnet County Emergency Services District #8 by 6.75%.

On December 1, 2021, Northeast Burnet County Fire Rescue (NBCFR) met the requirements and obtained an Insurances Services Office (ISO) Class 8B/10 rating. With the recent advancements made by the department, they are preparing their application to reduce the rating to a Class 6. 

What this means for the community is lower insurance rates. The lower the rating the larger the discount you may receive on your homeowners insurance. If you live within 5 road miles of one of the three NBCFR fire stations (Oakalla, Briggs or Watson) please download the State Fire Marshal's Classification Certification (attached below) and provide it to your insurance agent to receive the discount.
